Denny Searles 1949-2009
Here is the short bio that Denny wrote for himself for this website:
Ok, time to fess-up.Yes, I was a choirboy. After hearing me sing to myself all the time,
my mom had me audition for the largest all male choir in the country. That was in 1957
when I was 8 years old and in Kalamazoo, MI. I was part of the 70 person choir in very
large Episcopal Church for almost 10 years. I recieved my first guitar when I was 12.
Then things really started to change. I started out playing folk music but as I got older I
moved to rock, then country rock then just country. I also wrote some of my own stuff.
Now, I've come around full circle and I'm very happy to say that I'm back to where I
started (although I can't sing Soprano anymore!) I am very comfortable adding what I
can to 2 Copper Coins, whether it is guitar, bass, or voice, and maybe writing a song or
two. Being a part of 2 Copper Coins has made me realize that there is no such thing as
a coincidence!
Our friend and fellow bandmember...
Denny Searles passed away on December 21, 2009. Denny played guitar (6 and 12
string) and the bass guitar with 2 Copper Coins from 2008 to the time of his early
passing. Denny was a very talented musician and was involved in musical pursuits
nearly all of his life. Denny was always up for practice, never turned down a gig, and
enjoyed the "back and forth" razzing with the rest of the group. His talents on the guitar,
his characteristic voice, and his songwriting skills will be missed by the members of 2
Copper Coins.
No such thing as a coincidence. One of the last songs Denny wrote (and the band was working to learn) is titled "Walk with Jesus". The starting lines for
each of the three verses are "Walk with Jesus", "Talk with Jesus", and "Pray with Jesus". We know Denny is doing those things now. We miss you Denny!
